IB Offer vs All in for BR PAG
Hello, I received anIBoffer fromOCRin April last year for anEB(which I told). Would it be a poor decision to network like hell and grind toget a BlackrockPAG offer? I get that PAG is not PMG, but honestly I think it's harder to get into PMG thanGSTMTso Ihave adjusted my goals (plus how late it is for 2022 summer recruiting).
TheIBgroup does a lot of modeling work, which should be helpful forAM, so even if I not able to get into PAG - after B-school (3.85 GPA and 740 GMAT) I should be able to claw my way in there lol.
My dream career is to one day be inportfolio management and wouldlove to be at Wellington,LazardAM, Blackrock, T Rowe, Fido, etc.
(Please let me know if I am wildly off base here)

Hi Prospect in IB - Cov, yes, I'm a bot, but I'm also good looking. Hopefully, these threads help you:
More suggestions...
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
Bump
Lol, if your dream is to do risk reporting then yes
Low-key, sounds better than being a PPT monkey. Plus hours are better. Better exits to LOAM. More brand equity when going to B school. Lots of upside.
It doesn't sound like you have a good grasp at either what the team in PAG does or what an investment banking analyst does.
I will say that every major bank has graphics departments /powerpoint teamsand people in Manilla etc., so the bulk of the tedious stuff people joke about (i.e., changing colors, adding/reformatting logos, etc.,) doesn't really get done by analysts anymore.
Sadly you are not wrong... I don't really know what it's going to be like. Even after speaking with a bunch of people through networking and even those specifically at the office, the day-to-day work is still kind of an enigma to me.
This is completely false. Most banks do have outsourced graphics departments, but the majority of the tedious work is still done by the analysts. Graphics team might just create a custom shell for aCIM/ roadshow in the beginning of process, but that is roughly it. Analyst do most the tedious work (logos, colors, etc) because:
(1) The outsourced teams suck. Their work quality is garbage and it takes forever to check what they do. The work they send back looks ridiculous and if not, EVERYTHING they do has to be checked. Additionally, it takes forever to type out in excruciating detail exactly what you want done. If there is any ambiguity or room for interpretation, the work they send back will not be usable.
(2) Timelines don't allow for use of outsourced team. When you need a draft back out to senior team within a few hours or have a last minute change, the outsourced team isn't an option. They take too long to return work and often miss deadlines. Even if they could finish it in time, you are rolling the dice that the work quality will be acceptable, because you're f**ked if not. If they miss the deadline, you're also f**ked. Blaming something on graphics team is never an acceptable excuse an no half decent analyst is going to trust their reputation to an outsourced graphics analyst.
Analysts do most the tedious work because outsourced teams are not to be trusted and by the time you type out the request in painstaking detail and check the work product, you are not saving much time. Additionally, timelines are so tight in banking that using the outsourced team is not feasible.
Outsourced graphics teams are primarily used in the beginning of a process to create a custom shell for a bakeoff, roadshow orCIMwhen you have the time to get multiple options and iterate. Analysts also send work to outsourced teams when they log off for the night. If you wake up and the outsourced team did a good job, then you saved yourself time. If the work is rubbish (most likely), then you are in the exact same place.
personally think theEBis a no brainer here. Bk gig sounds like a more middle /back officerole (seems like reporting and risk management),EBwill expose you and give you the opportunity to build the qualitative skillset needed for what ever you want to do in theAMworld
