Master In Finance for IB Australia
Hello Everyone,
I am completing my bachelor degree in economics and management at Bocconi (Italy), which is one of the best business schools in Europe. This summer I will also be summer intern atRBS, commercial banking.
I would love to come back to Australia, as I spent 6 months there during high school, and I was wondering if a Master degree in finance at UNSW would be a good idea in order to find a placement inIBin Sydney.
In Europe having a master degree is valued by banks, but I have read I some blogs saying that in Australia baks almost only hire undergrad with Comm/Law degrees, so I am a bit lost.
Thank you very much to anyone who can help me out.

From personal experience doing the MFin at The University of Melbourne, I would stay away from doing any sort of Masters degree in Aus. Especially given how much it costs for International students and the fact it isn't valued by Banks. I've interviewed at banks in Aus and I found my Masters degree to be looked down upon and me having to justify why I did it rather than getting a job straight from my Undergrad.
Additionally, you won't get an internship/job unless you're at least a permanent resident.
Would a Master student have a good chance of getting intoIB, with good grades + relevant internship? Or would still be at a disadvantage as opposed to an undergrad with the same grades and experience?
It depends what in - if it's like a Mast. in engineering then no as you need to do your masters to become qualified. But any other masters (like finance), as above, is looked down upon as it's viewed that you couldn't land a role during undergrad and are thus buying time.
You're better off going to a Big 4 and then trying to lateral which is extremely common
