Middle Management MBB / FAANG
Hey Everyone
I am a middle manager/exec at one of the infamous IT services firm. However, I have a pretty strong healthcare consulting experience spread across APAC countries, then moved to Product Management @USA (grew a successful product) and finally to business strategy. I am currently in the states and was applying to theM7schools. However, at 33, at most got only waitlists. I recently got a great offer fromLBSand considering pros and cons of moving to London.
Pros - Immigration is easier in UK (I am an international).
LBSis a pretty strong brand in London at least.
Program is quite strong.LBSnetwork is pretty strong as well.
Want to move intoMBBmiddle management (LBS at least provides a shot vs staying in current position). Second aspiration would be FAANG.
Cons - Salary cut from current pay.
- No network in Europe.
- Ready job offer if I graduate from a US university.
- Not sure how isLBSregarded in the US if I decide to move back.
Would be great to get some feedback on how to prepare best for a career inMBB@London for a middle manager or FAANG. (As I understand, it might be a different path that I would have to take vs a youngMBAgrad). Also, would be great to understand the competition for middle manager/exec positions in London. Any other recommendation would also be welcome.

What isMBBmiddle management?
If you want to move into the post-MBA role, you can try applying as an experienced hire. Bain's mostly done but McK should still be hiringAssociates and BCGshould still be hiring Consultants. You could use your background to land something in their tech practices.
如果你想要一个工作t FAANG, do your networking and apply directly.MBBis a circuitous and tough way to get there.
if you've managed to grow a successful product then should be easy enough to land a PM offer at FAANG. unclear whymbbis needed or even useful for your goals, bschool even less so. you will not be able to recruit into a manager level role atMBBstraight out of bschool, fyi - most managers atMBBare internally promoted.
Thank you @a5s and @throwingawaying123. Really appreciate your response. I started off my career in Consulting (healthcare) and then moved to Product Management later. Though I have been successful at PM, my interest was always with Consulting. Hence, I wanted to try recruiting into Consulting as a first option and if it didn't work out, come back to Tech. I don't think I would have a problem recruiting in middle-tier Tech (FAANG maybe will take quite some effort); however, I have been out of touch with Consulting for quite some time (casing etc.). Also, I was not sure how the middle management recruiting landscape looked like in a top Consulting firm. Hence, thanks for your response, gave me some idea how to get started.
Would really appreciate an additional insight - how is the job market in UK (London) compared to the US. While it may not be easy, would there be enough opportunities for qualified people? Does it tend to be very competitive? Will theLBSbrand provide a good shot at recruiting at a top firm?
im based in the US so def not sure what the consulting job market is like in London, but I do know thatLBSis a top bschool target forMBBin the UK and Europe.MBBis always competitive, easiest recruiting out of school but def not a walk in the park still.
