Semiconductor Investing Scene

What does semis investing look like on the private side? I imagine it's pretty capital intensive so the traditionalVCmodel doesn't work too well, but also too much R&D for buyouts to work...

Anyone in this industry want to share?

Semiconductor industry really isn't great for investing. The industry is notoriously cyclical due to the short lifecycle of semiconductor-related products and the relatively frequent boom and bust cycles for the underlying demand for chip-based products. It's also extremely hard to time as different sectors peak and bottom out at different times, and the industry has a very long lead time.

Talking out of my ass here, but I imagine much like with fintechVC, if you are a true SME & know which niche tools could have room for growth or could potentially get bought out by NVIDIA, AMD,VCcould maybe work..

Could be totally wrong but I feel like semi's are so complicated that if you find a startup that is doing one tiny product or part super well, you could turn it into a lucrative investment even if it will neverIPO.

wallstreetmemes, what's your opinion? Comment below:

Great parts in the chain if know where to look. Trive capital just sold nxedge for instance. On traditional semis like amd and Intel, it's not conducive to private investing
