University of Florida vs. The Unknown

I just got an offer for transfer this fall to the University of Florida's Warrington School of Business. I was originally rejected for this summer, and never reapplied, but they just called me out of nowhere yesterday and offered me admission for fall (which I hadn't even applied for). I just graduated from community college, and had only applied to Florida and no where else like an idiot, but I had no anticipation of being rejected considering my 3.98 overall gpa/4.0 prereq gpa. I was only rejected because of their budget problems and because when I turned in the app on the last day they had already taken as many as they could since the incoming transfer class was shaved by 1/3.

The thing is, after being rejected I really thought things over and researched other schools night and day for the last two months. I decided I would be applying for Cornell, NYU, and maybe Claremont McKenna, SMU and a few other schools (a safety of course). If I do take this offer and go fall to UF, would I still have a shot at spring transfer to Cornell ILR? I am currently a rising junior, but at the same time I am already 1 year ahead of my '07 HS class. I don't want to take the semester off, and UF is dirt cheap, in fact I will make a few grand each semester for going. I know it is never talked about on here, but it is not a bad state school, it has lower acceptance than UT-Austin, Michigan, and similar numbers to Virginia with students stats being very high. I think freshman acceptance was 36% this year. Ideally I would like to be at Cornell though, but I would like to go full time this fall too. I figure I can pull a 3.9-4.0 at UF whether it be for this semester or for the full 2 years. I am also from this area, and would be living at home still, plus I am used to a large school. My 2 year CC has like 17k students.

(St。Pete, FL) recruits forIBDat UF. Would that kind of a job be possible from Cornell, or would I be better off staying in FL where so many of the people out there are UF alumni? I think I am going to call Cornell Monday before I commit to UF and ask the transfer counselor how they would view me transferring to UF right before trying to transfer there. In the end, I would like to work in Florida, and if not, somewhere like Houston or Atlanta. I don't like theNYC生活方式或生活成本。

BBcoming from UF? I know a VP in ops atGS在泽西城,可能能够让我获得一些联系是别无其他的,但是我真的不想进来NYC。Like I said though, something like RJ in St. Pete, or energy stuff in houston would be ideal to me. I wouldn't mind aMMor boutique at all, but I do want to doIBDor英石。 MBAfrom a top tier school a few years after UG and then it wouldn't really matter so much. I would still like to an analyst stint in Ibanking preMBA因为帖子MBA((if I got that route) I would like to enter into something else.

我一定会打电话给康奈尔ILR我已经在communicati转会顾问on with through email Monday to ask him what he thinks and explain the situation. But would schools in general look negatively on someone transferring out of a school right after they transferred in? This is my only chance at UF pretty much, and not knowing whether I will be accepted at Cornell is so risky. Would they be understanding about me doing this because I am not guaranteed a spot at Cornell and this is my only chance at this school (they just stopped spring/summer transfers), one that I wouldn't like going to as much as Cornell, but would be my second choice? What about other schools like SMU-Cox school of business? Would that be good for getting a job at a Houston Ibank? I can't get in a top private in the south like duke, emory, vandy, or rice because I never took the SATs, and I am not concerned with those schools at this point. I've only got a few days to make up my mind on whether to take the florida offer or not. The budget problems all the schools in this state are having worry me a bit (50 million dollar budget cut at UF alone). My mom is a UF alumna, but she says I should go where ever I want to. I can only afford a private school though if it gives out excellent grants though (household income= <22k).

She got an education degree and now works for the family business which isn't exactly a big money maker. They will probably sell it in the next few years though and she can do something else. That is not that relevant to this discussion though...I am really unsure of what to do. I mean I could still get a greatMBAif I go to UF, but I have such a short time to decide that I am in a real bind.

Niblita, I go to UF as well and am interested inIBd

Raymond Jamesis a laughingstock. Then again, so is the entire state of Florida. Go to NYU. It will change your life.

Business." Nobody knows what the fuck Warrington is. Or Cox at SMU.

Raymond James' particular recruiting practices, but you may want to consider being willing to work inNYCfor at least a while to increase your chances of breaking into I/B and then trying to get hired intoRaymond James或南部的另一家精品店。

Best of luck with your b-school applications,

After going back and forth on it I decided to decline the offer from UF. I think getting away from Florida for the next two years at college will be good for me.

I am applying to Cornell (ILR) which is by far my top choice. Also applying to WashU (economics), NYU (economics), SMU (finance and should be ok for a good texas job at the least since a lot of rich peoples kids go there). Any other schools that would be good to break intoIBfrom outside of the ones I mentioned that allow spring transfers? I thought about applying Carnegie Mellon, but it doesn't look like a school I would like being at. I think I made the right choice though, and I also think I will be able to better away from home where I can more distractions than I care to mention.

NYCnext month to check out NYU and take a bus out to Cornell for the visit. I have some family I can stay with in jersey across the river fromnyc。Also want to catch a game at yankee stadium since it is my last chance. Never been up there (hell i've never been further from FL than virginia), so really looking forward to it.
