Vacation as an analyst - is it possible?

For those working in aBB, did you take any days off during your first year (e.g. around Christmas)? I wonder if it is possible.

Yup, most first years got a week off in my group. Most are taking it right now as we've been on the desk for 7 months and have been getting grinded. I wouldnt take a week off during the holidays as a first year. You probably won't work anyway but second and third years deserve it and not everyone can take it off

我是第一年,没有采取任何休息日during the holidays. I personally didn't have much work to do because most clients wanted to spend time with their families and not deal with bankers, so I was able to find a lot of time to spend with my family. I've already asked for a week off for next month and I know a few other first years in my analyst class have taken vacations (ranging from 2-5 days). I heard it's frowned upon to take vacation as a first year, but they're really pushing for it now since WFH is so mentally draining.

Yeah it is possible. Sometimes I leave the office at 2am to go on a piss break.

jk...I took a two week break in my second year for Christmas to fly back to see the family. You should get a feel for if it is common in your team before you ask.

Common in my team to get a week around the holidays (spread out over the xmas/new years weeks and the week after new years) so everyone gets a chance to take it unless you need to take it during a different time for any reason. We also generally get time in the summer/early fall. Get grinded most of the year so it's always nice to get some time off

Heavily group dependent, withBBs通常有更多的respect for vacation thanEBs. SomeBBswill make you take a week of vacation. Holidays are usually pretty slow inIBwith clients and seniors not wanting to do much. Pretty common for people to take vacation around that time. Ask senior analysts who you have a good relationship with what's typical in your group.

Took 1.5 weeks off around Christmas, 1 week over the Summer and another week somewhere in the beginning of November. Note: I am based in London

Yes, definitely! But due to Covid and travel restrictions, I ended up not taking more PTO. The remaining PTO were rolled over to the following year

Yeah, I took 10 days at Xmas, and a few days in March as well as April. My team was pretty chill about it, worse case you just have to work a bit during vacation time
