What would you do?

Just finished the Fall Semester with 3 A's and 2 B+'s

My school allows me to replace any grade with a P. I will still get the credits but it won't effect my GPA

If I Pass the 2 B+'s my GPA will be a 3.88

If I don't pass the 2 B+'s my GPA will be a 3.81

Would you pass the two B+'s? Will it have a negative effect on my in the future if I choose one option over the other? Do Full Time employers even look at your Transcript?

I passed 2 class this past Spring Semester as well

Thank you for your input!!

Eh, most employers rarely look at transcripts for much more than degree completion verification and sometimes GPA verification. That said, in some "high end" shops, some people will review them, to see exactly what you took and what grades you get (more of a finance thing, but sure real estate could do it).

If I were looking at a transcript, and saw a "P" for pass, I would assume you probably would have gotten a C or D if that counts as a pass. I actually thought schools forced you to chose P/F grading before final grades were issued, but I guess after the fact is allowed at your school. Either way, seeing "Pass" on transcripts makes your GPA look inflated and bullshit (and/or makes you seem like a whimp of a student, just the truth). Grade inflation is bad enough, adding the P/F makes it plain stupid (but this is a competitive game, so you have to contend with the fact that everyone/everywhere does it).

是完全诚实的,我怀疑很多人会look at your transcript that closely, but some do. I'd personally say leave the Bs, if they were Cs, then I would probably do the pass option. EVERYONE will just assume those are Cs (if they actually look), so the Bs are better IMHO, and the GPA difference is too minor to care.

Thanks for the response.

I'm thinking that having nearly a point higher GPA may be worth putting a P for these 2 classes?

And I'm also thinking that I won't be the only applicant w/ some P's on their transcript.

Would your opinion change since I am from a Non-Target school? I am really trying my hardest to get the highest GPA possible to make up for the fact that my school is a Non-Target? These 2 classes are core classes as well and not electives.

After your comment I am leaning towards keeping these grades.

You won't be the only applicant, I used it this semester as well. I honestly don't think it matters all that much.

So, the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 is not going to be very meaningful, if it was 3.4 to 3.5, or even 3.6 to 3.7, I would say far more so given that those could be screening thresholds in the HR computer systems (I really doubt anyone screens out above 3.75, but who knows!).

To be 100% fair, most people will see your self-reported GPA on resume or in the application system (like when computer asks), and will only get around to looking at transcript after you have been interviewed or at least selected for an interview. I can'teven imagine Goldman Sachsreading transcripts until they have really decided they want to deep dive into you. So, from that stand point, having the 3.9 may be "better" (again it's so small I'd call it irrelevant, its a HIGH gpa either way).

I think you and other commentators are right, a lot more "Ps" on transcripts these days due to COVID and frankly I think more schools are making them easier to avoid students bitching about their grades. So, overall, risk reward may favor using them.

Still, there are some interviewers that may want review the classes/grades, so for them the Ps could look bad (again, this is highly personal, it would for me personally, if you were interviewing with me, I may give you shit about just for fun, see how you react, but I really doubt it would affect my overall decision much if at all).

When you say core classes, do you mean ones totally unrelated to the real estate/finance world (like English Lit or Psychology?) or core to the field likemicroeconomics or evenstats/calculus. If it is the later, I would give 10x more respect to the Bs than Ps, and frankly, those are the classes I will jump to on a transcript because they are hard. They are differentiators.

Again, what's the ratio here? I'd guess 80%+ never see it or care, the 20% might, hard to say.

Final point, the target, non-target thing makes little difference at all. In fact, target schools have worse grade inflation so I think using Pass at those places is worse than at state schools or other "non-target".

No brainer to take the Ps, imo. I'm going throughFTrecruiting now & every employer looks at GPA whereas a handful ask for transcripts before a background check.

If they do ask, you have a legitimate explanation since COVID clearly impacts instruction.

*disclaimer: I haven't taken any Ps, so take my opinion w/ a grain of salt

Yeah I could definitely see that.

Do you think there's a limit to the amount of classes I Should P or no?

Like is it too much to do 2 last semester, 2 this semester, and possibly 1 next semester?

Or, Should I maybe just Pass one of the B+'s?

No limit; do whatever you can to enhance your GPA. If you don't, others will - then they have an advantage on the initial eye test.
