冬天的不确定,因为我只有不得不买for summer (intern szn) but I like banana republic, theory, and and even high end thrift stores (you will be surprised at the range of options.) I try to keep a consistent color palette: white, black, navy, light green, light pink, red. I avoid brown because it will blend in with my skin color and I think it might look funny.

White house black markethas some good work clothes, love their stuff and typically always on sale (Im a girl btw)
Second the thrift stores... especially if you are in a wealthy/older area, Goodwill can have some really well-made blouses if you dig. Look for vintage stuff, so much better made
for new items, Theory, Aritzia, Vince,MM拉弗勒Jcrew(凸轮eron pant especially). Also just look through Nordstroms or Bloomingdales websites, they have a lot of random brands
Ann Taylor and Zara are also fine, I just find their stuff to be extremely low quality and doesn't fit well or last long. Totally okay to fill in a few gaps in your first-year analyst wardrobe, but I wouldn't buy everything from there unless you are starting with nothing
One tip, avoid my intern summer mistake, don't stock up on those cheap 100% polyester blouses from H&M/Zara. They look professional enough from a distance they were absolute hell overNYCsummer. You don't need to spend a fortune on Theory, but I recommend natural fibers or at least sweat wicking fabrics (I know Athleta has a performance button up, not sure if Lulu does). Also agree with thrifting nicer secondhand brands, I've had a lot of luck on Poshmark and Vestiaire Collective.
What about bags? Any recommendations?
Longchamp is a classic (I like the all black or all tan one, the black with tan leather is a little 2012) but any neutral color will do.
You should be fine carrying any small or medium sized bag - tote, small sized handbag without crazy logos, etc. It depends if you tend to carry a lot (extra shoes, sweater, etc) and need the space of a tote, or if it's just your phone and keys.
