Question about transitioning from banking to a more heavy algorithm related job

onto my next question, I have a relatively high level understanding of financial algorithm design, I have conducted some research and this is the topic that really fascinates me. After doing some years as an analyst, does anyone have some experience with transitioning to a more research heavy part of the bank (still want money of course) or does it help with recruiting QR? While I do think that I would be an excellent fit as an analyst and my沥青-deck making skills are quite strong, I truly excel as a mathematician and that's where I would be of most use. I appreciate any advice!
