Hello everybody, first of all I want to say that this is my first post onWSO, and thanks to everybody who will take his/her time to read this.

Interviews are selective therefore based on your cv they did not selected you. Keep in mind that it's very competitive to even get an interview and that it also depends on the university where you study

Do you have any past internships or work experience in finance? Those tend to matter more than what your grades are and what you're writing in your cover letter. If you don't then to them you're just like any other student that is in that program, it doesn't matter how passionate you are about the markets - anyone can write that on their CL and resume. They probably just found some other kid that has actual relevant work experience and like you said "better match the job profile"

Also maybe just look for some mid office roles/non capital markets roles or network with alumni. If you're at least as good on paper as the other candidates applying, realistically speaking there's no reason for the banks not to interview you. Problem is majority of them probably have had some relevant finance experience
