GS Seattle
Does anyone knowanything about Goldman Sachs' Seattle office in terms of junior experience / reputation / exit ops? It's a small group as far as I can tell, but it's Goldman. Would you consider an offer from this office over amid tierBB/EBlikeCS/PWP? If not, over a low tierBB/EB/ topMMlike Gugg/DB/William Blair?

It's GoldmanIBso I would take it and lateral later if you want. Cascadia in Seattle has been super strong recently so I would look there too.
What do you know about cascadia? They don't really get talked about on here but from their website it looks like they're decent, seems like they have pretty good dealflow even if the deals are smaller

Interviewed there maybe 2 years ago for aSArole. Really sharp individuals and solid culture. They also have a small but growing beer coverage practice which is kinda dope tbh. Ended up staying inNYC(didn't realize it rained like that in Seattle lmao). If you're considering Seattle to build a career I'd give them a strong look.
Are youSAor FT? IfSA, have you heard back about yourGSSeattle application yet?
Nah rising sophomore so thinking about next year. Did you apply?
Yes I did. Waiting to hear back, I think their process is later than other offices. Also possible I got dinged.
Hot take: I wouldn't take theGSSeattle office unless you had some specific reason the name would help you bounce. They work on different deals, are pretty isolated, and pay below market. The experience at the other places you listed would be far superior imo.
Cascadia is a solid long term option but you can work on some pretty tiny transactions. Seem like good people though and consistent deal flow.
How much would theGSname on your resume help inPE/HFrecruiting? Would they view as a regionalMM/boutique or more similarly toGSSF/NY?
Certainly doesn't hurt, but these firms aren't dumb and they'll pretty shortly gather what location/deals you were a part of weren't the same as those other hubs. Your friends and family will be quite impressed though.
Just to make sure I'm clear, it's a great option, but if the question is which is better, the other options are likely to be.
LOL at the thought of taking Cascadia (whatever the hell that is) overGSseattle. Yes it's a regional office, but you'll be working on larger and more interesting deals than anywhere else in the region.
David Eisman is one of the biggest rainmakers out there in tech and he heads up that office. Pay is also street (GS discount of course) not sure where Associate 1 heard different
Don't think anybody suggested that. They would takeCS/WB/PWP overGSSeattle which seems pretty rational.
Have worked with folks in theGSSeattle office - sharp team that doesTMTdeals (work directly with MSFT, AMZN etc.) Top-notch exits, street comp. Led by Eisman, the rainmaker responsible for the AMZN/WFM deal. Heard they only take 1 or 2 analysts every few years.
OP:
PWP is in no way is similar toCS. Completely diff levels. Go toNY, that's where you gotta be.
Second this, PWP is on the same level asJPMwhen it comes toBBcomparison
This is 100% right
My bad, don't know a ton about the firm. PWP is still a little below CVP/PJT/EVR, right?
Depends on group, I'd take PWP over Centerview (unless all you care about is pay). PWP Rx > EVR Rx, EVR M&A > PWP M&A marginally. All great firms
.
Great thread guys. Came to to see how Goldman Seattle is, got a conversation about whether PWP is better thanCentervieworEvercore. Appreciate the discussion.
Go toNYis the point, any of those firms.
