Lateraling with a low GPA
I recently graduated, and I'm currently going through the interview process with a small boutique bank. some former analysts have gone toBBsandEBafter a year or two. The only problem is my gpa is terrible. I have a 2.9 from a non target. had a bad experience freshman/sophmore year which I ended with a 1.5, but I grinded my way back up, getting all As in my finance classes and making deans list etc.
I have a good resume, internship experience inresearch and management consulting, and I have had no problems getting interviews if it doesn't come up. I was able to convince these guys to look past my gpa and got another round after an intro screen.
Eventually I would like to lateral cause this bank does M&A in an incredibly boring industry, and I don't want to spend 2+ years doing that.
is GPA a factor when it comes to lateraling to a bigger bank?

Na it won't matter. I myself had a terrible GPA, way way under 3.0 and currently at aMMand had an official offer in hand from atopBB(Jpm,GS, MS) to lateral over. All they care about after a year is that you have some experience and can do the job. Just do the best you can now, learn as much as you can and if spots open up at bigger banks, you'll be solid.
does gpa matter duringPErecruiting, i go to non target compsci finance major 3.0 gpa, will be working at ms/gs/jpmnext year at a sloid group
Shouldn't be a problem - at 1 year they might ask about it given you're still such a recent grad, but around 18 months they will know you have experience.
I would take it off your resume entirely FYI. If I see no GPA I assume it's below 3.0, but no need to confirm it with a really low number.
Once you have >1 year of experience and you can speak about your story and deals intelligently, you're gucci.
