Getting an interview from networking call
Over the past few weeks I've doneabout 15 networking calls,所有ERanalysts. Almost every single call has been essentially the same. I introduce myself then we talk about the analyst's background, theERindustry, their coverage sector, etc. for 20-30 minutes. Towards the end of the call, I ask what I should do to maximize my chances of landing an internship next summer and almost every single person says the same thing: "Exactly what you're doing now. Just keep networking with people and eventually someone will give you an interview/push your resume". Does this mean I'm coming off as incompetent? How do I get a person to introduce me to other people/push my resume? Should I just directly ask them to? Every single call has otherwise gone well. Any advice is appreciated

For those type of calls you definitely have to dance around the "push for resume" question. I'd email them back saying thank you for taking the time for the call, and to make sure they remember you. That'll be either sending them news articles about their respective coverage with your comments or updating them about any progress you made. I found the more I interacted with them, the more they helped me out.
When I was recruiting for the summer I had my share of calls where they said the same thing of "keep doing what you're doing." Eventually you'll connect with someone who's a little more straight forward and will push your resume. If you haven't yet, maintaining those relationships you made is crucial. Good luck!
Thank you for the response. I think I'm lacking in the "making sure they remember you" category. I think updating them with progress I've made is a good idea so I'll try doing that. Just curious, how many calls did you do before you landed an internship?
I don't know the number of calls but I do remember sending around 200-250 emails/LinkedIn messages and I started recruiting September. Had a handful of interviews but didn't land anything until January.

Based off my experience majority of the interviews and spots gets taken up mid-ish fall. There are some left during the winter, but by that time you have to be more straight up with them about getting an internship.
