Working as the youngest on a small Investment team
Recently graduated and started a new role with a fairly large firm in theirPEarm (we primarily invest in operating businesses but also do a lot of Infra deals), I'm new to thePE& Infra space but determined to learn & make a name for myself in this industry.
Working in a relatively small office as our company / team is scattered across the US & Europe (I'm the only analyst in this office and in the entire group from my understanding). Although the office I'm in gives me direct exposure to our COO and my group head (in the sense that I sit beside them in the office and am able to listen in on mgmt level calls) which is great from a relationship / mentor standpoint - there is nobody close to my age in the office or team members I can shadow / conveniently go to for help, extra deal flow or work. My manager & other execs in the office are extremely busy / focused on their own roles and thus I try to limit the occasions I go to them. I should note they are having me do some courses (modeling & theory) so I can get up to speed with industry concepts & modeling standards.
很好奇,如果一个nybody has advice or experience working as one of the youngsters / only analysts in a small office/team - anything with regards to learning & growth, staying motivated, planning ahead for advancement opportunities, lifestyle or anything at all you found helpful.
Greatly appreciated!

Hey, don't sweat it. I was in your shoes a few months ago, having joined aPEteam and being by far (at least 5 years) the youngest there. You will find your place naturally in the team once activity peaks up. It can be tough being the only one with nothing to do when everyone is busy, but it will change. Try to focus on learning as much as possible (looking at files on the server, your training etc.) so that you can add value when the time comes. In fact, it's great if nobody expects you to shoulder a lot of projects / responsibilities right away, it gives you some time to learn how to work with your team without too much a risk of fucking up.
