Moelis LA - Updated Info
Hey all,
Does anyone have any updated information onMoelisLA? Have a first round scheduled late this week, and I've heard that they expanded their class size to 10, and the hours are getting better (still sucks, but better than NY). Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks!

Speaking with people from the office before it is typical for them to have 8-10 full time analysts, not really much of an expansion. Hours are crazy but the culture is supposedly bro-ey, assuming it is a laid back culture, its also the west coast. I just remember that they had a really strong media and entertainment focus, at least from the people I spoke with. Obviously they touch many other industries... just my two cents on what I've heard from them. Didn't know they were starting this early as well. Are you a target for them or west coast school?
West coast school! They're done with target school recruiting (i.e Wharton)
Do you mind PMing me btw? I would but I hit my PM limit
Does Moelis LA get looks from east coastPEor are you limited to west coast for recruiting?
Just wanted to chime in (even though I created the thread) and say that they definitely do get looks from east coastPE.
Bump!Have a superdaywith them coming up soon, and I'm really interested if anyone has any experience there.
I've heard that things are getting better but who knows...
Moelis LA- Size of the analyst class?(Originally Posted: 02/14/2009)
任何人听到的主因m Moelis LA, know the size of the analyst class etc? I'm very curious to see what the roster looks like now that Moelis has made a name for itself and is probably very selective with recruiting. Specifically info for LA office.
I have a buddy at Cornell who got in, but he was a beast... no one from my school as far as I know.
See my WSO Blog
2 from Berkeley
.
So does this mean 1 Cornell kid and 2 Berkeley kids? Who are the other 1 or 2 kids?
2 Cornell kids
Since when are they in love with Cornell? Didn'tUBS LA onlyrecruit at top ivies?

i think the whole argument with school ranking is totally overrated. There will be exceptional candidates in every top 25 schools. Why wouldnt they recruit there if the students in cornell are smart and driven?
I think business fraternities feed into banking more often because of their culture, but a lot of good candidates (in some of the better positions, I might add) don't come from those organizations.
umm, one of them is from delta sigma pi.
Bump
Bump on culture/rep/lifestyle
They had 4 associates and a VP leave in two weeks. Enough said.
any analysts?
.
Care to elaborate?
No other info. Several associates across years quit, most without offers.
Booted or voluntary? To other banks?
What part of left without an offer would make you think booted or went to another bank?
I don't have any recent information, but based on talking to people there a year or so ago it seems that you don't really get a generalist experience anymore. A few people that focused on RX are gone, so now you are left to do media, particularly broadcasting, with some consumer stuff sprinkled in. Fun times.
