HELP, I NEED HELP.

I have been a long viewer onWSOand have had a few posts. As I go into my senior year of high school I have been given a choice to move to either California or Virginia. I want to do something in finance, what exactly? Idk yet. I believe commodities trading is the right path for me with my love for stats, math, and economics. When looking at schools in California I will most likely have to go to a CSU school with how my GPA is just average. I will apply to lots of the CSU's and a few private colleges in California. What makes this so attractive is that my brother works in finance. This might be able to carry me in finding a trading job. Virginia on the other hand is nice because of the schools I could go there. I would be applying to JMU, CNU, VCU, Virginia tech, and George Washington. So if you were able to get into colleges that were average what state would you go to? Thank you, and btw I would be going to SoCal.

College admissions isn't just GPA. Take a look at the rest of your resume - sports, clubs, music, etc. Take all of that into account in determining your chances.

By the way, if you move to CA as a rising senior, you may not qualify for in-state tuition (check CA rules). And you may lose eligibility for VA in-state tuition.

What the above said although the fact you are applying to private schools like GW of any school tells me you got the money to not worry about tuition all that much. Not a freakin clue on what California schools are like but I work in commodity trading and went to an aforementioned which if I were describe the school would almost certainly be easy to figure out so PM me if you want an opinion on VA schools. Commodity trading shops really don't give too much of a shit about where you went or what you studied barring a couple shops (exxon/goldman) and the commodity (just power trading can limit on major). I would just go wherever but if you live in VA and can't get into any school you can do community college for 1-2 years crush it and get automatic acceptance into any public school not sure how that would be in cali

Second this. I ended up at a va community college through a series of life events and landed a pretty cushy job. Wherever you go soak up all knowledge around you and network hard and you will get the job you want. Fwiw a kid I went to community college with transferred to uva and is at Goldman in afront office的角色。

Why pay out of state tuition if I could pay in state? It's also SoCal nice weather and probably where I would like to end up.

commodity trader is pretty broad. Could be some Glencore coffee trader skiing in Baar or an Exxon oil guy in Houston. Also you won't be starting out as a trader and it's a tough path to make it as a trader.
