read thru this site (its a bit old but provides some ideas on how to think about the space)
http://www.distressed-debt-investing.com/
check out distressed debt analysis by Moyer - good book to learn about the space
Ive read Moyer recently, was hoping for something a lot shorter and more concise if possible.
I think the key question is how can I find current/future distressed credit investment ideas?
This won't be hugely helpful, but I just read Soros massively increased his position in Tesla's convertible debt recently. Also, highly recommend the Petition11 newsletter for distressed info.
It's not hard to find ideas...look for companies with really high debt/EBITDA, debt trading with double digit yields / below $80, etc...
It's just like any other kind of investing - just because something trades at 3xEBITDAdoesn't make it cheap and it's not necessarily expensive because it trades at a 40xPE. the hard part is developing the thesis as to why it's mispriced and there's no formula/ratio for that.
is there an easy to way to scan a websites for high debt/EBITDAcompanies (in europe)?
(Im a total noob)
Check out reorg for news about distressed suff. Usually quite a good read
reorg is not free unfortunately
you school may have access to it or you can try to network with someone giving you their access
If you've already read Moyer, seems you'd have an idea-refer back to sections of the book and check out news, technical screenings, etc.
