The reason for my message is that I am looking to grow my dad's business. He owns a fairly large manufacturing outsourcing firm in San Diego that helps clients manufacture in Baja California, Mexico. I would ultimately like to become a trusted partner ofPEfirms with companies that manufacture or assemble products. My goal would be to provide services to their portfolio companies to manufacture in Mexico. My dad's company already provides these services to one large company owned by Apollo Management.
I'm looking for ideas to get my foot in the door with some of thePEfirms that have manufacturing or products in their portfolios. I'm aware that many already have a presence in China, but with wages rising at an alarming rate it seems that more companies are considering a move closer to home.
I work for my dad on the side, but am considering moving into his business full-time. Right now I'm a MC with Accenture. He used to be a partner at Arthur Andersen.
Any advice would be appreciated.
