When to put accepted offer on LinkedIn

I just accepted a job offer for thissummer in corporate finance. I signed the offer but haven't done onboarding paperwork yet. I wanted to put the offer on my LinkedIn and resume ASAP to help me with 2023SAapplications and interviews.

Should I put it on my LinkedIn and resume today or wait until onboarding paperwork?

imo adding it on your linkedin as "incoming investment banking analyst at x" is cringe, but it'd be fine to add it to your resume right away

I agree with Abusement Park. Put it on your LinkedIn on your first day of work. You can put it on your resume whenever you've signed/accepted the offer.

I only update my Linkedin once I have completed my internship. Accepted an offer for SA2023 and do not intend to update until next June/July at the earliest.

Imo, I think it's a good idea to put incoming in the job section of your linkedin. It's literally the point of it, and if someone is looking at your profile, they want to see where you will be working. However, I'm against making a post about it, notifying connections about the updated job section, or making your headline say incoming

I have exact opposite take. Make short post but don't update position.

Your LinkedIn profile should be an updated version of your resume. If putting Incoming X on your resume is encouraged, there is no reason not to put Incoming on your LinkedIn. It gives legitimacy to your profile especially if the offer is prestigious. But yes, I agree, don't post or check the "notify your network" box, and don't make it your title.

Absolutely put it on your resume today - 1 line max about what the company/role is if not clear, make clear it's "incoming". That will definitely help for 2023SA.

I don't think putting it on your LinkedIn will help with your recruiting, but no one is going to come after you for doing so. The onboarding paperwork is not a hurdle, put it on there if you want

I'd like to file a formal protest for my "after the pee test" answer not being included on LinkedIn!!!

So facts. It's annoying when people write some loaded language of how intensive the interview process was and end with I'll be "incoming" at this position.

Do whatever you want and don't be so self conscious. If it feels right to you, just f-ing own it! Wanna update your resume? Update it. Wanna flex on LinkedIn and let everyone know you're somehow not a f-ing failure like you've told yourself so many f-ing times while you were balling your eyes out in the fetal position on the floor of your bathtub during virtual interviews last year? Go ahead and just put incoming summer analyst on your LinkedIn page. Who cares? People on this thread already said they ignore it and why should you care about anyone else's opinions but your own? This is your life experience. Yours… not anyone else's so go ahead and do whatever the hell you want to do and don't look back. It should only matter to you and if you wanna do it, don't just do it but f-ing own it. It's YOUR firstsummer internshipand it's YOUR time to step up and do YOUR thing. Not anyone else's but yours. Write a post, thank your recruiters, your professors, your mom, even that 2nd grade teacher who told you that you would never amount to anything because you colored outside the lines giving you the motivation to prove them wrong. Your barber, your butcher, your baker, go ahead and thank the candle stick maker for all I care but just do whatever you want and don't ask for advice on how you should experience your own life experience. Just do it. Live it. F-ing own it and congrats.

Maybe if banks interviewed closer to the start date we wouldn't have this problem…

You should put 'Incoming offer signer for prospective summer analyst program at [insert firm]' for sure. Don't forget to notify everyone on your network then thank your family, recruiters, and the founding fathers while you're at it. ASAP or megafunds won't even consider you.

用户在评论部分已经说大部分of what I thought. While I neither agree or disagree with some of the things I read, I do think that, if and when you post your job on LinkedIn, you should at least adjust the settings so when you post your job status, your connections don't receive a notification. Not everyone needs to know what's going on in your life, and sometimes it's best that not many people know. Let your connections see it for themselves when they get the chance. If they congratulate you, great! Otherwise, you can move on because it makes no difference in how happy you are to get the job. I would usually get annoyed when many notifications came in from some of my connections who updated their status. While I am happy they're achieving their goals, it's honestly not my business, just like it's not their business that I have a job, so I'm not going on LinkedIn to let everyone know how thrilled I am that I have a job at this place doing that. Congratulations on getting hired! Be proud of yourself first and foremost. Enjoy the moment on your own or with your friends and family. Don't worry about LinkedIn or anything else until you start working.
