I saw this on reddit and the general discussion went along the lines of "can't believe how weak the US looks" or "look at what neo-liberals have done to our military", but I think that given our military is a volunteered force it makes sense to put out ads that promote inclusion and get as many people interested in signing up as possible. Also, the target demographics for the ads are clearly different, one is made to target young women and the others are to target men, 90% of the roles in the military are non-combative anyhow so it's pretty sensible to me.

To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering.

There is no way the US would go through with that. The last president with an aggressive foreign policy was Dubya, and he's viewed as an anathema because of it. The US COULD destroy Iran, but instead we paid them billions of dollars so they can pretend to tone down their nuclear program. Given how intervention seems to be viewed increasingly more negatively, I think it's very unlikely that the US would respond with full force to China or Russia.

If the US military is an overbloated bureaucracy, then do not expect results. Indeed the performance has been consistently abysmal.

what performance? we're in the longest period of peace in history and have remained the sole standing superpower, asserting that the largest military in the world has bureaucracy is a pretty trivial take

The U.S. spends a lot of money recruiting and marketing towards a broad range of military functions. They've actually done an incredible job doing so; there are a lot of rich suburban kids that dream of going to West Point or becoming a Navy Seal.

In comparison, a generation ago in China, there was a saying: the smartest go to college, those who can't take over their parents job, and those who can't even do that join the military. While the saying isn't really used any more, the premise still holds true as the military is still largely made up of the poor who joined only because they have no better options.

Since it'sWSOMussolini posting this, I'm assuming this was supposed to show that feminism and liberals have made America look like pussies compared to manly China and Russia. The reality is literally the opposite: the US military has such strong marketing / branding that their opportunities look attractive to almost every demographic, while the other two still primarily market to poor young men.

Has it ever occurred to you that those other demographics are absolutely not suited for combat and present massive liabilities and lower morale throughout the ranks?

~15% of the U.S. military are actually in combative roles and of that 40% will never be deployed. I'm sure the morale is lowered because support personnel can't take out a platoon themselves.

Most SOF and conventional infantrymen I've served with are middle class. The other jobs and usually filled with people who lived in poverty.

Dunno man, there's specifically one demographic that's being told ''please do not apply'' in that ad. But I am sure that filling the military with social justice activists is going to do wonders in the next occupation of the Middle East.

Personally, I can't wait and I mean it. The fundamental difference, and that's what makes Muslim men stand out, compared to their Western Euros counterparts, is that they are not afraid to give their lives to protect their faith, culture and society. Sure we are all appalled by their acts of barbarism, sure they also suffer from a massive inferiority complex. They will however, die for their cause. They don't care about ''war tribunals'' or even less about the justice system or our social norms. They care about their social norms, which tell them ''kill the fucking invader''. Now the ''fucking invader'' is going to attempt to plant the transexual flag on top of their capital buildings. I can't wait. I really want to see two-moms Karen from California trying to tell to Muhammad from Damascus ''trans-lives matter (more than yours)''.

Yankee Doodle, what's your opinion? Comment below:

The lower ranks of the US military are disproportionately composed of gang members. The officer class is composed of incompetent work bureaucrats and mental cases. And littered throughout it all are countless Chinese and Israeli spies, and also a plethora of non-citizens (uh...massive security risk). Our recruitment videos inspire disgust and revulsion. We attack our own elite units for being "too white and too male", and deliberately lowered standards to ensure otherwise unfit people could rise the ranks. Corruption in the US military is the highest its ever been, and competence continues to reach new lows (google West Point grade scandal).

When the US military was semi-competent, it could barely handle illiterate Afghans in caves. Good luck.

If only you knew...

When the US leadership had to choose how to handle the occupation of Afghanistan, the argument that prevailed, straight out of the academia was: let's build them schools, libraries, universities, highways, eletric grids, stadiums, theme parks, they'll forget about religion and become like Sweden.

While it is true that you don´t need that many grunts nowadays and the other two ads gloss over the fact that one comes from a barely functional shell playing a country and the other one from a literal fascistic state, it is an incredibly bad look. Yes, an army needs programmers and logistics and all that, but that´s not why people join. If you want to play the non-fighting part up, great, the PLA showed how to properly do it. If you need to include your diversity for whatever reason, fine, put a few girls somewhere in there, like the PLA did, too. But who the fuck is supposed to be attracted by this cucked soy shit smh?
