Anxious about being jobless or making really little money after college . Help
I'm a sophomore in college and I didn't come from a background where I could have some mentoring in finance or any business related field for that matter .However I go to a really good business school (top 8) and I see kids always doing good shit like getting internships at big companies while being a sophomore . While when I try to look up for anything , nothing comes up .I don't specifically want to be inIB, I'm actually more interested in real estate and majoring in both finance and real estate and Even though I was planning to go toIB, I think that lifestyle would not allow me to get into real estate on the side . Anyways I want to know if this fear is normal . My school had a really good employment rate but I don't know I feel like I don't belong here even thought I went through a rigorous process to get admitted into the school ( we have a direct and standard admit which is 10x harder and I was in later one ).I would really love to see if anyone went through the same thing and where they at know . Top school and worrying about this as a sophomore? You'll be fine. I graduated from a state school with a <3.0 gpa, I don't even list it on my resume. Did zero internships inCREfinance. No interest inCREuntil my junior year summer which I learned as much as I could on the side while interning at a small marketing firm. I graduated with no job but interviewed at a few shops my senior year, and was interviewing and networking pretty heavily that summer. Within about 2 months I landed an analyst position inCREbanking, just through networking and sorta knowing my shit, and showing a genuine interest - having "a story" (I think that's really important especially if coming from no internships). Point is if you're worrying about this now and putting a little effort into your GPA and networking then you should be fine to land a solid position inCRE.
